Trustees
Our Trustees continue to work behind the scenes to maintain and improve Barley Mow Village Hall for everyone who uses it.
Recent improvements include the installation of two new boilers, helping to provide a more reliable heating system, as well as repairs to the Main Hall floor.
The Trustees are also currently exploring options for new vinyls for the front windows, which will help refresh the appearance of the building and make the Hall more welcoming and recognisable from outside.
Maintaining and improving our Hall is an ongoing commitment, and we’ll continue to share updates as further work progresses. 💚

Saturday 22nd October 2023 marked a very special milestone for Barley Mow Village Hall as more than 100 members of our community came together to celebrate the hall's 50th Anniversary.
It was an evening dedicated to celebrating the people, memories and activities that have made Barley Mow Village Hall such an important part of our community over the years.
A highlight of the celebration was the premiere of a special 30-minute film documenting the history of Barley Mow Village Hall.
Students from the Gateshead College Media Department spent their summer researching the hall's history and interviewing past and present users and members of staff. Their finished film brought together stories, memories and activities from across the years and was premiered to guests during the anniversary celebration.
We would like to extend our thanks to the students for the time, research and creativity they put into capturing the story of our hall.
The evening began with a welcome from our Chairman, Andrew Brown-Searle, followed by the premiere of the anniversary film.
Guests were then addressed by the Worshipful Mayor of Gateshead, Dot Burnett, before our Development Officer, Graeme Wilkinson, spoke about the hall's activities and introduced the programme for the evening.
Everyone was invited to enjoy a buffet, with the Barley Mow bar open for refreshments, before our resident 70s rock band CSAW took to the stage for their first set.
The celebrations continued with bingo and the raffle draw, followed by a second live set from CSAW to round off a memorable evening.
Our 50th Anniversary was not simply a celebration of the building – it was a celebration of the generations of people who have used, supported and cared for Barley Mow Village Hall.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the evening so special.
We would particularly like to thank our fantastic team of volunteers, whose time, effort and enthusiasm played such an important part in making the celebration possible.
Here's to the next chapter of Barley Mow Village Hall!
